Today I will talk specifically about the differences between mini newborn photoshoots and full newborn photoshoots.
What’s the difference between a mini and a full newborn photoshoot?
You may have heard that newborn sessions generally can take a little while, sometimes even up to four hours. This gives plenty of time for extra cuddles, feeds and time for your baby to get into that deep sleep. Deeply asleep babies can be posed in a variety of ways and younger babies especially are able to be curled up into those cute womb like positions. A longer photoshoot also means that there is plenty of time for family pictures too, which is so special.
Mini Photoshoot for those wanting a few key portraits
But what if you only want a few pictures of your beautiful baby? Then you might consider choosing a mini newborn photoshoot. It takes only an hour or less and we photograph your baby just as they are – awake or asleep. Due to time limit mini session’s don’t include my signature newborn pictures on the white blanket and instead we wrap your baby up or dress them in a simple white onesie and photograph them in a mix of baskets and parents’ arms.
Mini Newborn Photoshoot is perfect for older babies
Mini newborn photoshoots are also perfect for families who for some reason didn’t manage to book their session in advance or their baby is already a little bit older. They are easier to fit in a busy photographer’s schedule than full shoots and also more affordable. A set fee includes a number of digital images and the whole process is simplified to help busy parents.
Full Newborn Photoshoot Experience
Unlike the mini session, a full newborn photoshoot can be much more personalised for your needs. It will include a Zoom consultation before your shoot, where your photographer will ask you questions about your hopes and dreams, where would you like to display your portraits and if you would like to include any special keepsake items.
When booking in pregnancy, your photographer will guarantee their availability in the weeks following your baby’s birth, meaning your little one can be captured at their tiniest.
The session itself will include a variety of family portraits as well as baby only images in various baskets and on a simple white blanket too. There will be lots of pictures for you to choose from!
After your session your photographer will invite you back to the studio to view your portraits and help you with designing custom prints, wall art and/or albums. This is truly an all inclusive service where you don’t have to worry about anything!
