Welcoming a new member into the family is an incredibly special moment, filled with anticipation, joy, and lots of love. A maternity photoshoot is a fantastic way to freeze these magical moments in time, allowing the family to treasure them forever.
In this blog post, I am thrilled to show you a collection of beautiful, heartwarming photographs from Dori’s studio maternity photoshoot. Featuring a radiant mother, her loving husband, and their adorable three-year-old son.
Studio or outdoor maternity photoshoot in Edinburgh?
Dori has chosen a studio photography session so that we can focus purely on the bump and the emotions surrounding this gorgeous time in their life. All white background allowed us to focus on the relationships of this lovely family, while keeping the portraits simple and timeless.
Choice of outfits
I have a variety of dresses in the studio wardrobe available for all my clients and Dori decided to make the most of this, with a few different options. All dresses looked so beautiful and flattering on her, while not taking away the attention from what’s most important – Dori’s gorgeous baby bump!
A long sleeve lacey and floaty dress is such a classic and timeless option, and looks great on all mamas. The yellow long sleeve dress added a pop of colour to the session and really suited Dori with it’s beautiful shape. And finally, a sheer short sleeve maternity photography gown was perfect for back lit portraits that show more of the bump and made Dori feel and look like a true goddess!
Maternity portraits with older child
Some of my favourite, yet I will admit challenging portraits to create were those of Dori with her 3 year old son Alex. He was a real three year old who did not want to pose for me and mostly enjoyed running around and playing with toy cars with me. However we still managed to capture some gorgeous moments of Alex with his mummy and daddy while he is still the little boy of the family.
Pregnancy photography with a partner
And of course let’s not forget the portraits of the parents themselves! It is so easy to get stuck into the busyness of everyday life when you have a toddler and are also expecting a new baby! It is my goal to encourage mum and dad to connect, to remember each other as partners and loved ones and to create gorgeous portraits of just the two of them.
