Hi, I’m Karolina – your local newborn photographer based just outside Edinburgh. I specialise in natural, all white newborn photography and today I want to share this gorgeous session I did a while back. I first met Jessica, Mauro and their first born daughter Clara while little Theo was still in his mummy’s tummy. We took gorgeous maternity photos for them in Vogrie country park and spent a wonderful morning getting to know each other and capturing this special time. Here are some images from that session:
Baby is here!
A little while later I received a message from Jessica, saying their baby has been born! I was so happy and excited to meet him and capture this new chapter for Jessica, Mauro and Clara. Normally newborn sessions are done within the first couple of weeks from birth, which is what we planned for Theo as well. Unfortunately, on the day of the session Theo wasn’t feeling well and we had to cancel the shoot and reschedule to a later date. I always try to accommodate my clients as much as possible and reschedule when needed. Having a newborn comes with all kinds of unpredictable situations and I am here to help make your life easier, not harder!
Newborn Photoshoot at 1 Month Old
Waiting a little longer to meet and photograph Theo was so worth it and his newborn photoshoot at 1 month old was amazing! I strongly believe that babies are best photographed as early as possible, but always with consideration of what is best for their family. Unlike other photographers, I don’t limit newborn shoots for babies only up to two weeks old and welcome them in the studio whenever they are ready!
Start of the session – Sibling and Newborn Portraits
Upon arrival Theo’s family settled in and we started with images of Clara and her new little brother. She did so amazingly well, and even with a bit of a language barrier (Clara spoke and understood Portuguese more than English at that time) we managed to connect and communicate so well. She was so loving and caring towards her little brother and it was such an honour to capture the beginning of this beautiful new relationship.
Family pictures at a newborn photoshoot
Following sibling images, we focused on capturing everyone together and created some gorgeous family portraits with baby Theo. Everybody did such a good job and the resulting images are just beautiful. Once we captured all possible combinations, Clara and her daddy went away for a little adventure. Jessica and I stayed to photograph Theo a little more and to create beautiful newborn pictures.
Sleepy Baby Photos
At 1 month old, Theo slept so well throughout his newborn photoshoot and we managed to get such a good variety of images! And there was a moment where Theo decided to look around and allowed me to create a beautiful portrait of him with his eyes open!
